Description:
The Information Security Office is seeking a motivated individual to assist in activities to protect the university from cyber threats. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with enterprise-grade security tools in the cyber security industry.
Responsibilities
- Analyze security alerts and respond to emerging cyber threats.
- Monitor network traffic and various logs to identify anomalies.
- Evaluate, implement, and test open-source security tools as well as utilize enterprise security tools to improve current processes.
- Assist in reviewing security training and newsletter content for the campus community as well as respond to stakeholders about security concerns.
Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience installing/managing Windows or Linux servers.
- Working knowledge of protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP).
- Proven ability to collaborate and meet deadlines.
- Self-motivated to research new technologies to improve SUU’s security posture.
- Completed application including Resume, Cover Letter, and Class Schedule.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
- Basic knowledge of offensive security/penetration testing or defensive security strategies.
- Experience with Docker or containerization.
- Security+, Certified Ethical Hacker, or similar.
